Intro to Ag Science

Intro to Ag Science is offered to first year Ag students as an introduction to the Ag program.  Students will gain introductory knowledge on several concepts within agriculture, focusing primarily on animal and plant production. Students will be assessed using projects, focusing on applying knowledge

Ag Biology

Ag Biology is for second year ag students. The coursework includes students studying plants and animals, and their interaction with their environment. Students will be taught an introduction to agriculture research and environmental science.

Vet Science

Vet science focuses on the anatomy and physiology of animals especially focusing on their use in agriculture.  Students are able to explore how to care for domestic, farm, and wild animals, diagnose their common diseases and ailments, and learn about different veterinary treatments. 

7th Grade Intro to Agriculture
7th Grade Intro to Agriculture provides an introduction into the 8 major Ag pathways and an intro into FFA. It gives students the ability to participate in FFA competitions and earn the discovery degree preparing them for their journeys in high school. 

Intro to Ag Mechanics

Ag Mechanics teaches students basic machinery and fabrication skills. Students receive extensive teach on machine is the shop, and then a hands on experience with the machinery. Students are also provided with basic introductory welding skills. 

Welding I 

Students in this level will be taught how to weld, specifically they will focus on welding metallurgy, fabricating, welding processes and heat treating structural design, safety and applicable codes and standard. 

ROP Welding

ROP Welding is a two period welding class for advanced students. ROP Welding Fabrication and Application is the advanced course designed to train students for entry-level positions in welding/metal fabrication shops and preparing students for their future. 

ROP Advanced Mechanics

 The is a 2 period class that provides hands-on training and theoretical knowledge for operating and maintaining heavy equipment used in construction, mining, and farming. Students also learn basic farm upkeep and advanced welding techniques.. 

Ag Leadership

Ag Leadership is for students looking for new ways to be involved in the Sierra FFA Chapter. Students in this class work with the officers to plan and improve our chapter activities. Students also use a personal development and career success textbook to discover leadership styles and how to implement them. 

8th Grade 
Industrial Technology

The 8th Grade I.T. class is an elective that students can choose during their 8th Grade year. The Industrial Technology program offers hands-on basic training in areas such as welding, machining, drafting, and electronics allowing students to gain practical experience using state-of-the-art equipment and technology.

Ag Chemistry
Ag Chemistry explores the physical and chemical nature of soil as well as the relationships between soil, plants, animals and agricultural practices. Students will examine properties of soil and land and their connections to plant and animal production. 

Floral Design
Floral Design provides an introduction into artistic and creative theories behind arranging and designing floral arrangements. It provides the fundamentals of design, techniques, and skills practiced in the florist industry. This class is UC A-G approved for Fine Art credit. 

Advanced Floral Design
This course allows studets to learn professional florist skills for employment in the floral field. Students will explore the floriculture industry on a more technical and advanced level including the proper care and handling of flowers, plants, and foliage; evaluate floral materials and arrangements; utilize floral tools, supplies and products to apply design principles to floral medium, construct arrangements for all occasions; display, price, and market floral designs; and preserve floral materials as students run their own floral shop.
