Sierra FFA participated at the annual Parliamentary Procedure competition at Chico State with a Novice Team of 8 members receiving 1st and an Advanced team of 9 members receiving 2nd in the competition. The Novice team consisted Taylor Collins, Cody Hall, Kat Marsh, Kelsey Mehling, Macy Myers, Kennedy Newton, Mason Tarr, and Shane Wyman. Novice members Taylor Collins and Cody Hall both received high chairs. The advanced team consisted of Cooper Ford, Jordan Gillihan, Allisa Hastie, Madison Hill, Austin Holt, Carson LeBoeuf, Josh Markos, Derek Maxwell and, Sydney Zumwalt. Jordan Gillihan, Austin Holt, and Carson LeBoeuf all received high chairs.

Sierra FFA hosted its annual donkey basketball game on February 12, 2015 with a boys and girls team with the girls pulling ahead in overtime. The boys’ team consisted of Nate Killian, Colton Fleming, Justin DeMent, Josh Markos, Dillon DeLuca, Ty Whitley, Gabriel Whitley, Kelby Cross, Michael Robles, Clay Telles, Jesse Tyler, Shane Wyman, Austin Dudley-Nelson, Derek Maxwell, Bowen Kehn, Mason Tarr, Stevie Sartarelli, Daygan Cross, and Charles McDonald. The girls’ team consisted of Racquel Alec, Kendall Cardoza, Taylor Collins, Jordan Gillihan, Ryan Schwoer, Kat Marsh, J.C. Rose, Cody Heriednt, Meagan Plummer, Kennedy Newton, Teagyn Greer, Makenna Galimba, Madison Hill, Julliana Sullivan, Macy Myers, Josefina Michel, Hayly Day, Julie Rouse, and Callie Newton. The girls’ team won in sudden death with a score of 37 to 35 with a stunning comeback in the 3rd quarter. Sierra FFA thanks the participants and all that came to watch.
Sierra FFA participated at the annual Parliamentary Procedure invitational hosted at Modesto Junior College on February 7th with a Novice team participating and Advanced team winning a close 2nd place out of 18 teams. The Novice team participated in the event and consisted of Taylor Collins, Kennedy Newton, Kat Marsh, Macy Myers, Cody Hall, and Kelsey Mehling. The advanced team was awarded 2nd in the competition and consisted of Allisa Hastie, Jordan Gillihan, Josh Markos, Derek Maxwell, Carson LeBoeuf, Austin Holt, Meagan Plummer, and Madison Hill. Sierra FFA looks forward to its next competition on February 14th in Chico.
Sierra FFA participated at the annual East-Fresno Madera sectional public speaking competition held at the Clovis East on Thursday February 5th with 13 schools competing. The contests consisted of Creed, Impromptu, Job Interview, and Extemporaneous speaking. In creed, a competition in which students recite the FFA Creed and answer questions relating to the creed, out of 39 students, Kat Marsh received 1st in creed, Macy Myers received 3rd, Logan Vandenack received 4th, Shane Wyman received 5th, Juliana Sullivan participated in the event, Kennedy Newton participated as well. In impromptu, in impromptu you must study a topic for 1 minute then deliver a two minute speech upon the topic, Derek Maxwell received 2nd and Taylor Collins received 3rd. In Job Interview, where students pick a job and are interviewed by a board of judges about the job, Kendall Cardoza and Josie Woodcock participated in the event. In extemporaneous speaking, you are given 30 minutes to write a 4 minute speech on an Ag related topic, and Allisa Hastie received 1st. Sierra FFA’s speaking teams will participate at the Regional competition on March 27th at the College of Sequoia.
