Sierra FFA is always encouraging members to participate in public speaking contests. This year our chapter sent a total of 7 members to represent us at the East Fresno Madera Sectional Speaking Contest on February 6th. Macy Lloyd and Abbey Cetin (not pictured) recited the FFA Creed and answered questions about what the Creed means to them and how it applies to their lives outside of FFA. Macy placed first overall out of 39 speakers and is moving on to Regionals. Kiera Heberlein and Micahla Riemath (not pictured) competed in the Job Interview contest where students must complete a letter of introduction, a resume, and a mock interview for a selected agricultural related job. Kiera placed 2nd and is moving on to Regionals. Hannah Thomason (not pictured) and Rebecca Moore (not pictured) participated in Impromptu. In this contest participants are given a topic and have 1 minute to prepare a one to two minute speech in response to the topic. Both of the participants did very well. Colby Perry took part in the Extemporaneous contest. He was given 30 minutes to prepare a 4 to 6 minute speech about the topic given. After giving his speech he is asked questions by the judges. He placed 1st overall and is moving on to Regionals. Congratulations to everyone who competed! Thank you Clovis FFA for hosting the contest, the students for representing FFA, and Mr. Vandenack and Ms. Theisman for coaching the students. -Submitted by Makenna Boul, Sierra FFA Reporter From Left to Right: Amanda Capriotti Transporter, Stevie Brisky, Haven Capriotti, Macy Lloyd Teagan Jolley, Abbey Cetin, Emma Turner, Taryn Lodge, Bob Actis
