On September, 27 Sierra FFA members, friends, and families arrived at the small gym at Sierra High School to celebrate this year's Discovery, Greenhand, and Chapter Degree recipients. In order to earn these degrees, members must have maximum involvement in the FFA and fulfill a variety of requirements such as having a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) in place. Macy Lloyd qualified to be the first at Sierra High School to earn her Discovery Degree. The Discovery Degree is an award for 7th and 8th graders who can now be involved in the FFA due to an amendment that was passed at State Conference this last April. Congratulations Macy! Justin Coburn, Clayton Collins, Riley Darby, Morgan Dority, Sarah Gill, Katelyn Harper, Dylan Hatcher, Jesse Heirendt, Kacey Heirendt, Bobby Holbrook, Samantha Long, Cheyenne Macumba, John Matthews, Connor O’Dell, Ron Pitts, Ann Price, Kaya Ray, Chris Rue, Josiah Smithson, Chloe Walzcak, Jonathan Witt-Baugh, Sydney Wyman, and Rachel Youngs were all awarded the bronze pin of the Greenhand Degree. Along with this members Makenna Boul, Cheyenne Duke, Averi Harrington, Kiera Heberlein, Jesse Heirendt, Savannah Jenkins, Thad Long, James Lujano, Colby Perry, Michala Riemath, Jocelynn Rodriguez, Hayden Tarr, Carli Turner, and Sharon Winn were awarded with the silver pin of the Chapter Degree. All members enjoyed a potluck dinner after the award ceremony. Sierra FFA would like to thank all of the parents and community members who attended and/or brought a dish for the dinner.
