This year, the Sierra FFA chapter is trying to be more inclusive in community service by attempting at least one event per month. This month, the members decided to do something for America’s Veterans on Veterans Day, November 11th. The previous day, members helped out to make this event a success. In every class, cards were donated, filled out with heartwarming messages, and signs were made to express our gratitude. On Veteran’s Day, seven of the eight chapter officers drove down to the local Hinds Hospice in Clovis. There, they hand-delivered the cards to nurses who would be able to disperse them. Although they didn’t get to personally see the veterans, Sierra FFA would like to thank all veterans, past and present for their service to this country. They would also like to thank Tami Myers for transportation, and everyone who helped out by either donating or filling out thank-you cards.

On Saturday, November 5th, Sierra FFA hosted it’s annual One- Day Woodcut at the Bert Weldon Memorial Farm. About 35 active FFA members attended along with 15 dedicated parents and supporters. The crew cut and split roughly 25 cords to sell to benefit the ag program and it’s members. Sierra FFA would like to thank Tim Messer Construction and Ray Slocun for donating to wood, and making this event possible. Thank you to everyone who attended and dedicated their day to supporting the ag program. There is still some wood left, so if anyone is looking for a cord of mixed pine, contact Rich Vandenack at 855-8311 ext 600.
