August 3rd and 4th Sierra FFA hosted its annual Two-Day Woodcut. We had a total of 30 FFA and 4H students and 15 parents and supporters. Over 25 cords of mixed pine were cut from the Shaver Area. The wood was graciously donated by Southern California Edison to serve as a fundraiser for FFA students who have an animal they are showing at the Fresno County Fair this October. Each student who worked at the woodcut earned money towards their project as a top-off. The wood was transported to eager buyers, or to the ag farm to await purchase. Students worked from 8am to 5pm in the evening sawing logs, splitting rounds, loading, and unloading wood. During and after working, multiple parents provided the students with meals. The rest of the day was spent in the lake as well as relaxing around a campfire. A huge thank you goes out to Southern California Edison and all of the parents and volunteers who came out and helped with meals or miscellaneous work.
