July 30th and 31st Sierra FFA hosted their annual Two-Day Woodcut. In total we had 34 FFA and 4H students along with 13 parents, advisors, and supporters. Over 30 cords of pine was cut from the Shaver Area. We are grateful for Southern California Edison who donated the wood for this event which is a fundraiser for the FFA students who will be showing an animal in the Fresno County Fair this October and also supports the students welding projects. The wood was transported to eager buyers who were both in need of wood and willing to help the students and chapter. Students worked from 8am to 5 in the evening sawing logs, splitting rounds, and loading and unloading trucks. Multiple parents were involved by helping with the cutting, stacking, and delivering of wood or in preparing meals for those involved. After working, the evening was spent on the lake as well as relaxing around the campfire. A huge thank you to Southern California Edison and all of the parents and volunteers who generously donated their time and energy to help make this another successful fundraiser for the Sierra FFA Chapter. There will be more wood available for purchase this November. If you are interested in purchasing wood from the November woodcut please contact Rich Vandenack @ 855-8311 Ext. 148. -Makenna Boul, Sierra FFA Reporter
