On October 24 2015, Sierra High School's FFA Novice Parliamentary Procedure Team set out for the National FFA Convention. They competed against the top 27 teams in the country. There were two qualifiers to get into the finals round. First, the team had to take a 25- question test on all things related to Parliamentary Procedure. Then, the teams were placed into three different rooms in which the preliminary rounds were being held. Each room held 9 different teams, and Sierra was placed into Room B. The top two teams were picked from each of the three different rooms, and this composed the final six. The final six teams were announced an hour after the last presentation, and Sierra was one of the six.In the final round, Sierra went first. The presentation was smooth with only a minor flaw. Three hours later, at the awards ceremony, Sierra was announced SECOND IN THE NATION. After the competition, Sierra FFA attended National FFA Convention and other events. They went to the Louisville Slugger Museum, Churchill Downs, biked across the Ohio River, various concerts, a hypnotist show, a rodeo, and a National dance. They represented Sierra High School well and will now move on to the advanced Parliamentary Procedure team. They would like to thank all of their contributors and sponsors, especially: Sierra Unified School District, Sierra High School Ag Boosters, and The Sierra Foundation. Lastly, the team would like to thank Brad Wyman, Rich Vandenack, and especially Robert Actis. These three individuals have supported the team greatly in all of their endeavors and the team would like to extend their utmost gratitude to this group of individuals. -Kathleen Marsh
