Sierra FFA participated at the annual regional natural resources competition in Mariposa. Natural Resources is a competition that involves identifying different plant and animals species native to California along with packing a mule and an oral presentation on a scenario given by the administrators. Sierra FFA brought 2 teams this year to the competition, the A team consisted of Jordan Gillihan, Allisa Hastie, Shane Wyman and Macy Myers and received 2nd in packing and 1st on the oral presentation and received 4th in the competition. The B team was composed of Bowen Kehn, Carson LeBouef, Frankie Sanchez, and Jesse Tyler. Carson LeBouef received 3rd in Animal ID and the whole team received 2nd high team in the competition.

BIG is an acronym that is used to abbreviate Best Informed Greenhand. Sierra's BIG team this year participated at the annual sectional competition located at Sanger High School BIG competition. The team overall received 1st. Macy Myers, Shane Wyman, Michael Purkey, Kat Marsh all participated in the event with Shane Wyman receiving 1st individual and Kat Marsh receiving 2nd high individual. Sierra FFA BIG looks forward to the next competition on March 4th at UC Davis.
Sierra FFA participated in Reedley’s annual Opening and Closing competition on November 12, 2014. The outcome was a success. In the novice teams, the team consisting of Shayne Wyman, Kennedy Newton, Cody Hall, Michael Purkey, and Jordan Coburn won 1st place with Kathleen Marsh receiving a high chair as president. Novice team two consisting of Mason Tarr, Kelsey Mehling, and Jesse Tyler also won 1st place with Daygon Cross, Macy Myers, and Lauren Gillihan who received highchairs. In the open competition the team consisting of Meagan Plumber, Madison Hill, Madison Hinson, Julie Rouse, and Justin Dement received 2nd place with Christy Rouse winning her high chair. The next open team consisted of Derek Maxwell, Cooper Ford, and Morgan Furrer, won 1st place and Frankie Sanchez, Makenna Galmiba, and Keenan Quintana received high chairs for their teams. The final open team was made up of Bowen Kehn, Kendall Cardoza, and Josie Woodcock, they also won 1st place and had Carson LeBoeuf, Hailee Ashbrook, and Taylor Collins win a high chair. Our officer team also competed in the competition. The officer team, Kelby Cross, Sydney Zumwalt, Austin Holt, and Joshua Markos received 2nd place, and had their vice president, Allisa Hastie, and their treasurer, Jordan Gillihan receive a high chair.
