Sierra FFA had 2 livestock judging teams and a BIG team participate in the annual competition at Merced Field Day with BIG receiving 4th out of 40 teams and livestock receiving 13th and 38th out of 66 teams. The Livestock Judging “A” team consisted of Hailee Ashbrook, Kelby Cross, Makena Galimba, and Mason Tarr with individual scores of 87th, 96th, 71st, and 24th, respectively, out of over 200. The Sierra FFA “B” team received 38th of 44 and consisted of Austin Dudley-Nelson, Daygan Cross, and Justin DeMent with individual scores of 64th, 140th, and 154th. The BIG team received 4th out of 40 teams and consisted of Macy Myers, Kennedy Newton, Kat Marsh, and Shane Wyman with Shane receiving 7th high individual out of 144.

Sierra FFA’s Parliamentary Procedure Novice and Advanced teams placed 1st and 2nd, respectively at the San Joaquin Regional competition hosted at College of Sequoia located in Tulare on Friday March 20th. The Novice team consisted of Kat Marsh, Macy Myers, Cody Hall, Taylor Collins, Shane Wyman, Mason Tarr, Kennedy Newton, Michael Purkey and Kelsey Mehling. Kat Marsh received High Chair 1, Taylor Collins received High Chair 2, Kennedy Newton received High Chair 4, Shane Wyman received High Chair 5, and Macy Myers received High Chairman. The advanced team consisted of Allisa Hastie, Jordan Gilihan, Sydney Zumwalt, Derek Maxwell, Cooper Ford, Carson LeBoeuf, Austin Holt and Josh Markos. Allisa Hastie received High Chairman, Sydney Zumwalt High Chair 2, and Derek Maxwell High Chair 3. Sierra FFA’s teams both qualified for state finals and will both be going on Friday April 15, 2015 at Valdez Hall in Fresno.
Sierra FFA’s livestock judging team participated at the annual competition at California Chico State university with 1 team of 7 people. Overall, out of 77 teams, the team received 18th. For individual scores out of 248 individuals, Josie Woodcock received 36th, Mason Tarr received 80th, Hailee Ashbrook received 93rd, Makena Galimba received 99th, Austin Dudley-Nelson received 106th, Taylor Collins received 140th, and Justin Dement received 220th. Sierra FFA wishes the team luck as the go to the next competition at Merced College on March 21st.
Sierra FFA hosted the annual sectional Parliamentary Procedure competition of the East and West Fresno Madera FFA sections. For the West Fresno Madera the Novice team from Laton took 1st. For the East Fresno Madera section in Novice, the Sierra team of Kat Marsh, with high chair 1, Macy Myers, with high chairman, Taylor Collins and Kelsey Mehling, with high chair 2, Shane Wyman, Michael Purkey, Cody Hall, Kennedy Newton, with high chair 4 and Mason Tarr. O’Neils Minarets took 2nd with High Chair 3 and High Chair 5. For Advanced Parli-Pro Sierra took 1st with Allisa Hastie as high chairman, Jordan Gilihan as high chair 1, Sydney Zumwalt as high chair 2, Derek Maxwell and Josh Markos as high Chair 3, Carson LeBoeuf, Madison Hill, and Austin Holt. O’Neils Minarets received 2nd with a high chair 4 and high chair 5. Sierra FFA thanks all of the participants along with those that helped and came to watch. Sierra looks forward to the San Joaquin regional competition on March 20, 2015 at college of Sequoia.
Sierra FFA participated in the annual UC Davis Field day with a Novice and Advanced Parliamentary procedure team, Best Informed Greenhand, Creed, and Livestock Judging. For Novice Parliamentary Procedure the team of Kat Marsh, Shane Wyman, Kennedy Newton, Taylor Collins, Cody Hall, Mason Tarr, Michael Purkey, Kelsey Mehling, and Macy Myers received a close 2nd place out of 30 teams. The Advanced team of Alissa Hastie, Sydney Zumwalt, Derek Maxwell, Cooper Ford, Austin Holt, Josh Markos, Carson LeBoeuf, Jordan Gilihan, Madison Hill, and Meagan Plummer received a disputed 4th place out of 31 teams. For Best Informed Greenhand the team of Kat Marsh, Kennedy Newton, Michael Purkey, and Macy Myers received 4th out of 45 teams with Shane Wyman receiving 7th high individual. For creed competitions, out of 40 participants Macy Myers received 3rd high. In livestock judging the team received 26th out of 50 teams. The team consisted of Mason Tarr receiving 69th out of 204, Kelby Cross received 71st and Josie Woodcock, Daygan Cross, Taylor Collins, Makena Galimba, Hailee Ashbrook, Justin Dement, and Austin Dudley-Nelson participated in the event.
