Sierra FFA hosted its annual Chapter Award Banquet on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Every year the chapter sets aside a night to honor both the accomplishments and successes the chapter members have received. This year’s theme was “Create, Focus, and Inspire.” We recognized 3 Junior High students that received their Discovery Degree including Teagan Jolley, Haven Jolley, and Makayla McGrath. Many high school students received degrees as well. 23 students were recognized for earning their Greenhand Degree, 14 were recognized for Chapter Degrees, and 4 students, Colby Perry, Hayden Tarr, Emma Actis, and Makenna Boul, were recognized for earning their state degrees. After the degrees were announced, we took the time to appreciate those who were involved in Leadership Development Events: Opening and Closing, Public Speaking, and Parliamentary Procedure, as well as, the Career Development Events: the Veterinary Science team, this year’s Natural Resources Team, along with last year's state winning Natural Resources, which placed top 12 in the nation. Colby Perry placed first at State in his Equine Science Entrepreneurship Proficiency qualifying him to compete at the national level. Every year, Sierra FFA awards a select few with the Honorary Chapter Degree for all they do for the FFA association. This year, it was presented to Tom Mendenhall. The members who are most active in the FFA throughout the school year are honored with a top 5 award for each grade.
