On May 9th, Sierra FFA sent six students to Reedley High School to interview for the opportunity to serve as Sectional Officers for the East Fresno-Madera section this upcoming year. The students involved included Mason Tarr, Kat Marsh, Shane Wyman, Macy Myers, Ian Hamilton, and Kennedy Newton. They were interviewed along with 32 other students in the section, all ranging from Freshman to Juniors in High School. After a long process, the final twelve were announced. There were six officer positions available: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, and Sentinel. Two students were selected to run against each other for each position. Mason Tarr was selected to run for the position of Vice President, and Kat Marsh was selected to run for the position of Reporter. The two were to then travel to Kingsburg High School on the 12th of May to present their candidate speeches. The members that were selected were required to write, memorize, and present a two- minute speech on why they want to be in their officer position. On the day of the event, two delegates from each of the fourteen schools in the section were present to vote. Mason Tarr did not win the position of Vice President, so he slid down to the position of secretary, presented a 30 second speech, and won the title. He is the first sectional officer representing Sierra FFA in the past few years, and with his dedication to not only our chapter but also FFA we congratulate him and wish him luck for his year of service.
