Sierra FFA is always encouraging its members to participate in public speaking events. This year our chapter had six members represent us at the East Fresno Madera Sectional Speaking Contest on February 7th. Sienna Blair recited the FFA Creed and answered questions about what the Creed means to her and how it applies to life outside the FFA. Kacey Heirendt, Ally Hare and Hayden Tarr (not pictured) competed in Job Interview where students must complete a letter of introduction, a resume and a mock interview for a selected agricultural job. Brad Actis participated in Impromptu, a contest where the student is given a topic and has 1 minute to prepare a one to two minute speech in response to the topic. Brad did well and made it into the finals. Colby Perry engaged in the Extemporaneous competition. He was tasked with 30 minutes to prepare a four to six minute speech about the topic given with judges questions after. Colby was awarded 2nd overall and will be moving onto Regionals. Congratulations to all those who competed! Thank you to Clovis FFA for hosting, to our students for representing Sierra FFA so well and to Ms. Bowe, Mr. Vandenack and Mr. Wyman for coaching the students.
